Palo Verde Pictures*

*Another post that will be updated over the course of many, many days. Unfortunately, we're leaving here on Sunday, and I probably won't have internet again until the 24th. We're going to Santa Rosa (a beach! with potential sea turtles!) and then Monteverde (a cloud forest, with lots and lots of rain!)

Marsh!Marsh! So many black-bellied whistling ducks!

JacanaJacana. Not a great picture, and I took it through my binoculars, but I thought it was worth posting.

Cows!Cows! So the interesting thing about cows here . . . they brought them in to keep the grasses in the marsh trimmed down, so that the birds can come in to nest (there's a lot more to the story than that, about wetland management and the Invasion of the Cattails, but I might save those for another day)

Whistling ducks! Do they truly whistle instead of quack? Did you whistle at them (since you let me down with howling)? I think I would like to buy a duck.
